How to Improve Your Posture.

In yoga, there is no right or wrong way. There’s a better and beneficial way!

4 steps for a great posture while standing:

Take a couple of deep breaths in and out.

1. Keep your feet hip-distance apart.
Put your weight evenly on both legs.
Distribute most of the weight on the balls of your feet.

2. Keep your spine tall and straight, maintaining your head, neck and spine in one straight line.
Gaze straight forward.

3. Roll your shoulders back.

4. Engage your core.
Inhale deep and exhale completely. Repeat a couple of times.
At the end of your exhale, draw your belly button towards your spine and upwards towards the chest.

By practicing and maintaining a good posture you can prevent and relieve most of your neck, shoulder, low back pain and muscle tightness.

The same steps apply to maintain a great posture while sitting:
Put your weight on both hips.
Keep your gaze forward.
Don’t curl or hunch your back.
Don’t lean over the electronic screen, table or books.
Maintain 90 degree angle at the knees where thighs and lower legs meet.
Keep your shoulders relaxed, rolled back and away from your ears.
