What is a Bharatanatyam Dance Class?
Your kid will learn the foundations of Bharatanatyam, a classical dance originating from South India (Tamil Nadu). The Bharatanatyam dance form incorporates 20 types of adavus (basic steps) which are danced in 3 speeds and 5 rhythms.
Each 60 min class consists of learning hand movements (mudras), and footwork.
Our warm, caring, and non-competitive environment is perfect for kids starting age 3.
Unlike other Bharatanatyam studios, we keep our class small.
We teach with kindness. Our kids learn the form and concept rather than copying the steps and memorizing. The kids learn to use facial expressions and carry proper form with grace.
Our free Bharatanatyam class is a 15-minute private session. The instructor will assess your child's level to place them in a class based on their ability.
We ask both parents to be present during the Bharatanatyam assessment class. This will allow you to see what your child will be learning and to discuss your expectations for your child.
